Aleksandar JOVANOVIC: director of Steinbeis EU-VRi (European Risk and Resilience Institute) in Stuttgart, Germany, the Institute providing expertise and services in the areas of risk and resilience management for industry and public sector. Aleksandar is a full professor at Steinbeis University, Germany, and Advisor at Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, China. His past assignments include work at/for ETH Zürich, Switzerland, the European Commission (Belgium, Italy), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), and Stuttgart University (Germany), and visiting professor/scientist stays, at Ecole Polytechnique (France), Univ. of Tokyo (Japan), Beijing Capital Univ. (China), Argonne Ntl. Lab. (USA), VTT Institute (Finland), etc.

Aleksandar has acted as the manager of over 150 large international/multinational R&D and industry projects (EU, governments, refineries, power plants, insurances companies, etc.) in the areas of new technologies, risk and resilience management, advanced data analysis and AI. The focus of current projects is on risk and resilience management (e.g., for insurance, power, and process industry) and include topics such as resilience indicators, application of agentic AI, RBI (Risk-Based Inspection), and resilience stress testing.

As a practitioner, Aleksandar has led the development of a number of certified methods and tools applied in industry, and acted as a convener of national, European and ISO standards such as CEN-CWA 15740 (RBI), EN 16991 (RBI), CEN-CWA 16449 (Management on New Technologies-Related Risks), ISO TS 31050 (Management of emerging risks for enhanced resilience), and DIN-SPEC 91461 (Stress-testing resilience of critical infrastructures exposed to cyber-physical attacks).

He is a coauthor of the milestone study on Future Global Shocks of the OECD (2013), author of 7 books and over 150 publications. He speaks fluently French, Italian, English, German and Serbian, and can deal with a couple of other languages (Spanish, Russian, Chinese...).
