Prof Caroline Field

Caroline bridges research, practice and policy through her various roles as National Resilience Partner at PA Consulting, Co-Founder of the Centre for Whole of Society Resilience and a Visiting Professor of Infrastructure Resilience at Loughborough University. 

Caroline’s particular area of focus is building strategic, whole-system resilience; developing resilient leaders, culture and capabilities that bridge silos. She has expertise in measuring resilience and has developed a systems-based approach for prioritising resilience building efforts through understanding interdependencies and linking resilience to strategic outcomes. She recently authored the supplementary guidance to the Green Book on “Valuing Economic Resilience and Security” which builds on her Six Dividends of Resilience measurement model. 

Caroline is active in developing standards in resilience. She was Chair for 2019 British Standard on City Resilience and is Chair for the recently published International Standard for Urban Resilience. She also recently led the development of practical Resilience Guidelines and Frameworks for the Rail Sector.

Caroline is accredited in resilient leadership as a catalyst for building whole of society resilience.
