Chris Medhurst-Cocksworth recently led Pool Re Solutions (PReS), the consulting division of the UK’s largest terrorism reinsurer, Pool Re, which he joined in 2020. Tasked with setting up the consultancy, he oversaw a team of terrorism experts, providing free support on terrorism threats and mitigation to the UK insurance market and over 80% of UK’s commercial property, with a combined value of over £2.3Tn. Partnering alongside the Home Office, Counter Terrorism Policing and the UK’s leading academics and engineers, PReS works with some of the largest organisations and assets in the UK, providing insights into enhancing terrorism mitigation and enabling informed decisions regarding risk finance. Prior to that, Chris worked for Marsh, the insurance broker, where he worked as one of Marsh UK’s 3 senior Risk Partners, working with FTSE 250 companies to help solve risk management issues. Chris had a successful 20+ year career in the Army, having commissioned into the Royal Tank Regiment, with significant involvement in CBRN and counter-terrorism and operated across the globe before retiring in 2016. Having hung up his boots as a rugby player and youth coach, he can now be found tending to his orchard in preparation for cider-making season or getting himself tangled up as a rather poor fly fisher.
