Dr David Rubens
Dr David Rubens DSyRM, CSyP, F.ISRM is a UK-based security, risk and crisis-management specialist and the Executive Director and founder of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM), established in 2018. He has worked in security consultancy since 1992 and has advised governments, corporations, NGOs and major international organisations on complex risk and crisis-management issues.
Dr Rubens holds an MSc in Security & Risk Management from the University of Leicester and a Professional Doctorate in Security & Risk Management from the University of Portsmouth. His doctoral research examined alternative command-and-control structures and decision-making in highly complex crisis environments.
He has held a number of academic teaching roles, including at Leicester University, Cranfield University, the University of Portsmouth, the University of Gloucestershire, and the Berlin School of Economics and Law. He has also been involved in research and advisory work concerning critical infrastructure resilience, national preparedness and multi-agency crisis management.
He is also the author of Strategic Risk and Crisis Management: A Handbook for Modelling and Managing Complex Risks, published by Kogan Page in 2020.
