Silvia Torresan

Silvia Torresan is Senior Scientist and Director of the Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies Division at the Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC Foundation). She holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences and a PhD in Science and Management of Climate Change from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Her work bridges climate science with environmental and disaster risk assessment and management approaches, focusing on multi-hazard and systemic risks to support climate adaptation and resilience. She has been a key scientist and WP leader in several European and international projects (e.g., MYRIAD-EU, AGILE, REST-COAST, EO4Multihazards, SAVEMEDCOASTS) strengthening science-policy interfaces for risk-informed decision-making. She contributed as expert to the European Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA) and the European Environmental Agency’s Topic Centre on Climate Change Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation, and serves on the EGU Task Force on Climate Hazard and Risk for Policy. She has also contributed to the development of international climate risk assessments (e.g., the Global Atlas for G20 Countries) and has provided scientific consultancy for climate risk assessments at national, regional and local scales (e.g., the Italian National Climate Adaptation Plan and the Regional Climate Adaptation Plan for the Veneto Region and the city of Venice). She has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals (see Google scholar and Scopus profiles).
