Sendai Stakeholders Children and Youth Constituency (SSCYC)

Established in 1992 following the adoption of Agenda 21, MGCY serves as the formal engagement mechanism for young people within the United Nations, participating in more than 50 intergovernmental and 150 multi-stakeholder processes.

Within MGCY, the Sendai Stakeholders Children and Youth Constituency (SSCYC) was established in 2013 as the formal engagement and facilitation mechanism for young people in the work of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction
(UNDRR).

Since its creation, SSCYC has worked to strengthen collaboration across the UNDRR Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism and support meaningful youth participation in disaster risk reduction.
