Track 3: Adaptation, Governance and Regulatory
Broadly speaking, there are two drivers for better resilience and adaptation  - the carrot and stick. The carrot looks at the positives that resilience can bring to your people, environment, operations and reputation but is too often replaced by the stick - mandatory regulatory requirements. Typically, these requirements force the adoption of programmes that are disclosure orientated, rather than developing resilience programmes that are specifically designed to augment organisational success. It is a hard circle to square, but one that can be exploited  - using the regulatory requirement as a pretext for enforcing better resilience and adaptation. This session looks at some examples where the carrot and stick can not just happily co-exist, but actively synergise.
