Sir Alan Duncan
Sir Alan Duncan is one of Britain's most experienced voices on international affairs, energy, and the Middle East. He began his career as an oil trader, working with Shell International and then with Marc Rich and Co before founding Harcourt Consultants in 1989, an independent advisory firm on oil and gas matters with a 30-year focus on the Middle East.
Elected to Parliament in 1992, he served as MP for Rutland and Melton for 27 years. In government, he was Minister of State for International Development (2010 to 2014), and Minister of State for Europe and the Americas (2016 to 2019), effectively serving as deputy to the Foreign Secretary. He also served as the UK Prime Minister's Special Envoy to Yemen, and sat on the Intelligence and Security Committee. He left the Foreign Office in July 2019.
A graduate of St John's College, Oxford, where he was President of the Union, and a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard, he brings together rare depth across geopolitics, energy, diplomacy, and statecraft.
He is the author of "In the Thick of It," a political memoir covering Brexit and the Foreign Office years and today advises CEOs and senior decision-makers through Highgate Ltd, where he serves as Senior Advise
