Thierry Meyer is Research director and head of the Chemical and Physical safety group at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne Swittzerland (EPFL). 

He holds both a Master’s degree and a PhD in Chemical Engineering. His career spans academia and industry, having begun at Ciba-Geigy as Acting Head of Development and subsequently continued at Ciba Specialty Chemicals as Product Manager. Since 2000, he has served at the EPFL as Research Director and Head of the Safety Competence Center, while teaching risk management and engineering-related subjects for many years. 

He represents Switzerland on several European committees dealing with safety, risk management, and education. In addition, he acts as an expert witness and advisor for national and international courts on matters related to risk, safety, and engineering.
