About This Session
AI adoption has become one of the most repeated topics in security and resilience, and one of the least defined. Almost every organisation says it keeps a human in the loop. Few can describe where that loop actually sits, what the human is accountable for, or what happens when the AI is wrong.
This masterclass replaces the principle with a working model: software for precision, AI for interpretation, humans for judgement. Three different kinds of work, each with a defined role. Most AI deployments fail not because the technology doesn't work, but because those lines were never drawn.
The masterclass is built around two exercises. Participants first place their own operation on a four-stage maturity scale, then test that placement against some key questions. They then apply a four-question interrogation framework to a technology they are currently using, or being sold, in the room with peers. Everyone leaves with both completed worksheets and a short set of actions to begin on Monday morning.
Objectives
-
To introduce a working model. Give participants a defined, defensible division of labour between software, AI and human judgement that they can apply to any system, any vendor and any use case.
-
To establish an honest baseline. Enable each participant to assess where their own operation genuinely sits on the path to AI-enabled operations, and to identify the single next investment that returns the most.
-
To equip participants to interrogate AI claims. Provide a practical, reusable filter for separating operational capability from marketing, and for defining where human accountability must remain.
Who Should Attend
• Security and Resilience Leaders • Risk and Business Continuity Professionals • Crisis and Incident Management Teams • GSOC and Security Operations Managers • Technology and Data Leaders supporting security and resilience functions • Procurement and Vendor Management professionals evaluating AI-enabled tools • Senior Executives accountable for duty of care
What You'll Learn
-
What "human in the loop" means in our industry, and how starting with Human Judgement & Action first is an advantage rather than just a safeguard
-
The three-part operating model - software for precision, AI for interpretation, humans for judgement - and why blurring the roles is where most AI adoption breaks down
-
What fundamentals need to be in place for a successful roll out, and the role that data and software platforms play
-
How to place your own operation honestly on the maturity scale from reactive to AI-enabled
-
Four questions that expose whether an AI-enabled product has an operating model behind it, or just a chatbot.
-
Which decisions should never be automated, and how to set that boundary before a vendor sets it for you
-
Five actions you can take immediately to secure the foundation, the budget and the governance for responsible AI in your function
